Candidate for the student parliament

Eirin Marie Olaussen Espås

Age: 23 years old
Campus: Trondheim
Study programme: Master Ocean resources
Conscientious, structured and committed

Priority cause: Students’ psychosocial health
I want to run for Student Parliament because I want to put the learning environment and mental health on the agenda at NTNU. Much good is being done today, but according to the numbers in the SHoT survey, it is still not enough. I myself have experienced loneliness throughout my schooling and know very well how it affects both academic achievements, but also one’s physical health. I think everyone benefits if the talk about how important mental health is actually turns into action.

In the past, I have sat both as a representative on in the Welfare Council and was lucky enough to sit full-time on AU as head of media and coordination with responsibility for mental health (Welfare Council). Thus has quite a lot of experience with student politics from before, but also some experience with national politics through previous posts in AUF. Today I sit as a faculty representative at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Head of communication for the Student Peace Prize and study a master’s in Ocean resources at the Department of Biology, and still feel that I have a little more to give before I deliver my master’s in 1.5 years.
